These core word picture communication symbols with Children’s key word signs are designed to assist pre verbal, non verbal / non speaking children or those who have communication difficulties.

 

These cards are designed to compliment picture / visual communication symbols that may already be being used by your child. Therefore encouraging a full multi modal approach to communication.

 

These flashcards have the symbol/ visual communication picture on one side and the sign picture with description on the other. Core words make up the majority of what we say, these 48 flashcards consist of top core words that are also useful for first words we use as children. Signs include:

These Flashcards are made of thick card presented in a durable box. Flashcards are a brilliant versatile tool that can be used at home and out & about. They can be used as or with games making them easily incorporated into your everyday routine.

Please note: While Children’s key word signing uses Auslan signs, Auslan is it’s own separate language with its own grammar, vocabulary and Deaf culture associate with the language.

 

Childrens’ key word signing is an alternative and augmentative communication tool. That uses signs (borrowed from Auslan), gestures and facial expressions alongside speech with only key words being signed. Core words assist children go beyond getting their basic needs and wants met and ensures they can share ideas, thoughts and observations in their everyday life.
