These downloadable A4 Feelings and ‘What Can I do’ Communication Boards provides you with both the symbol board and associated key word signs on the other side. The Boards include a QR code that takes you to the video tutorials of the signs.
In this pack you get two communication boards. One for feelings and emotions which have been split into red, yellow, green and blue. It also comes with a regulation toolkit which provides symbols and key word signs for activities and actions that may assist your child regulate.
The feelings / emotions AAC symbols and key word signs board contain the following symbols and signs:
Red: Angry, Scared, Overwhelmed, Hitting, Screaming, Meltdown
Yellow: Excited, Silly, Embarrassed, Frustrated, Confused
Green: Happy, Proud, Thankful, Brave, Calm. Ready
Blue: Bored, Tired, Sad, Sick, Pain, Shy
The regulation toolkit or ‘What Can I Do?’ AAC and key word sign board contains the following symbols and signs:
Stand, Walk, Jump, Run, Squeeze, Stretch, Look, Draw, Work, Take a Break, Count, Talk, Think, Breathe, Safe, Space, Hug, Stop, Help, Share Ideas, Fidget Toy, Blanket, Food, Drink
Key word sign is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tool that provides children that are pre speaking or have other communication difficulties (such as situational mutism) the ability to communicate through signs (kindly borrowed from Auslan), gestures and facial expressions. When key word sign is used by communication partners they must always speak when they sign, only signing the key words of a sentence, to model both spoken language and sign at the same time.
